I'm Entering a Store Today

January 2 - Forgot two exceptions. I know, but I haven't shopped yet, so hear me out.

2 more exceptions:

1. I'll be in Wisconsin this winter for a month and there is a thrift store there that I call the very best one I know of. I will therefore allow $40 TOTAL to be spent there while I'm there.

2. Also while in Wisconsin, I had already promised Bill that I would purchase a WI Starbucks cup.

I realize that it sounds kind of cheesy to add things in the first days but let's remember that this challenge isn't really about being a minimalist (like that would ever happen), it's really about discipline and awareness.

So, before I step foot in Walmart today, I must admit how shaky I feel about being let loose there. I must carry a list, of course.

coffee

dog treats

dog food

sand (part of Calvin's Christmas gift, I need sand to fill his kickbag base.)

On another note, I'm investigating something called the Three River Pantry Challenge. Apparently, swaths of homesteaders test their metal at living out of their pantries for a couple of months and don't even go to the grocery. Hmmm. Have not done a deep dive yet, but did try my hand at making Oatly creamer. It only took a few minutes and was good, surprisingly so. Maybe this is worth a looksee.

See? This year is already an incredible learning experience. Yes, I added a Starbucks cup, but I also made my own Oatly creamer. The $40 at the great thrift store is my prize for getting that far. I'll be there in Feb./Mar. God help me.

It is already separating, but I've heard that is solved with guar gum, to which I say, who needs it?
A little shake is just fine.
